Consolidating e-charity – GreaterGood acquires Hunger Site

 |

GreaterGood, a Seattle-based charity-mall site, has acquired The Hunger Site for an undisclosed sum, the Puget Sound Business Journal reports.

In its six-month history, the Indiana-based Hunger Site hosted 34 million visitors and donated 9 million pounds of food to the United Nations’ World Food Programme.

The site solicits corporate sponsors to pay for food donations.  Site visitors click a button to trigger corporate contributions.

The Hunger Site’s heavy web traffic may help GreaterGood build its audience amidst growing charity mall competition, the Journal reports.

Charity malls allow prospective donors to either shop to benefit a cause or make direct donations online.
