Toy firm raises $6M – 200 groups to benefit

 |

In only one evening, Toys "R" Us raised a record $6 million dollars for children at its annual benefit gala hosted by Rosie O’Donnell.

The money will be distributed to more than 200 organizations throughout the U.S. that benefit children’s health and welfare.

"Raising over $6 million in a single evening is an amazing accomplishment," said John Eyler, the company’s president and CEO.

Every penny raised will go directly to charity, he said, thanks to underwriting of event expenses by the company.

In the last 15 years, The Toys "R" Us Children’s Fund has contributed more than $30 million to organizations  that improve the lives of children.
