The University of Utah has received a $125 million donation for cancer research from the Chief executive of the largest privately held chemical company in the United States, Bloomberg reports.
“I promised the university, the researchers and the patients that I would never let a time go by when I wasn’t going to be building more facilities,” Huntsman said about his second gift.
The new gift will help construct a clinical research hospital adjacent to the Institute’s research facility and fund the development of treatment protocols to benefit cancer patients around the world.
“I am a very lucky man. It is such a privilege to be able to make a donation of this kind,” Huntsman said.
It is believed that the Huntsman Cancer Institute is the only facility in America that is largely funded by one family to conduct ongoing cancer research and treatment.
