United Way of Silicon Valley has named Greg E. Larson as its new CEO and president, the San Francisco Chronicle reported June 1. Larson replaces Les White, interim president and CEO of United Way.
Larson, 45, is currently vice president of Joint Venture Silicon Valley. He also served as CEO and first director of the Silicon Valley Civic Action Network. Before that, he was city manager of Milpitas and deputy city manager of San Jose.
At this time last year, United Way of Silicon Valley was flat broke — but has recovered rapidly, Michelle Martin, United Way’s director of communications, told the Chronicle.
United Way officials declined to give Larson’s salary, except to say that it is over $150,000. Larson begins his new job on July 17.
