Secrets of success – Study tracks women leaders

 |

FleetBoston Financial will support a study on successful women-owned businesses to provide strategic intelligence for women’s business training and mentoring programs.

The study, backed by the National Foundation for Women Business Owners, will examine work experience, education, financial backing, family background and industry characteristics. The purpose of the study is to identify the characteristics of rapid-growth businesses, and the differences within these businesses between women and men.

“This study recognizes that there is currently very little research on a phenomenon that is radically reshaping the American business landscape — the explosive growth of women-owned businesses,” foundation executive director Sharon G. Hadary said.

“This phenomenon deserves the analytical attention and insights that the study will provide. Its findings will result in expanded opportunities for women to lead vital, financially successful businesses.”

The study is scheduled for release in early 2001.
