Housing charities merge – Different specialties, same goal

 |

Two affordable-housing foundations will merge to produce the second largest developer of affordable housing in California.

Mercy Charities Housing California, a leader in multi-family rental housing, will merge with Rural California Housing Corporation, a leader in single-family housing for homeownership. The combined organization, to be called Mercy Housing California, will employ over 365 people and serve 23,000 low-income people.

“As a unified force, we’ll be able to address the growing housing crisis in California by offering the housing options that make the most sense in each community,” said Stan Keasling, vice president of the new charity and former executive director of Rural California Housing Corporation.
