Women’s ballot – Web site in works

 |

Condé Nast, the League of Women Voters and Oldsmobile are working together on a campaign to encourage women to vote, the New York Times reported on June 13.

The campaign will include a four-page supplement in the October and November issues of

The New Yorker, Vanity Fair, Self and Women’s Sports & Fitness, which have a combined readership of about 13 million.

Since the 1980 presidential election, women have made up the majority of voters, League president Dr. Carolyn Jefferson-Jenkins told the Times.

The campaign features celebrity women photographed with their real life friends and the slogans “Get out of Neutral” and “Take a Friend to Vote.” The advertisements also include two detachable postcards that women can mail to friends they want to vote.

Condé Nast will create a Web site this fall to provide information about voting and politics.
