The president of Catholic Charities USA will leave the organization when his tenure expires in 2001.
In his announcement to the Board, Rev. Fred Kammer, SJ, stated he had met his goals for the organization and felt he was leaving the organization sound spiritually, structurally and financially.
“It is with deep regret that the Board accepts Father Kammer’s decision,” said G. Lawrence Blankinship Jr., chairman of the Board.
Father Kammer, who has served as president since October 1992, has guided the organization through a comprehensive planning process and established and established a strategic direction for Catholic Charities USA.
The 90-year old organization serves 10 million people in the U.S. each year through 1,400 local agencies and institutions.
