Hunt to join Carnegie – Experience in education important

 |

Governor Jim Hunt will join the board of directors of the grant and research foundation Carnegie Corp. in October, the Raleigh News & Observer reported June 26.

“I think he will make a huge contribution to our work with his insights, his understanding of political realities and his experience on both state and national levels,” said Carnegie president Vartan Gregorian. Gregorian cited Hunt’s education reforms as being particularly important.

As a trustee, Hunt will vote on all grants before the board. The $1.7 billion foundation gives away about $60 million each year for education and international peace, security, development and democracy.
