Honor for web site – Public Interest Pioneer award

 |

A software security company president has been selected by the Stern Family Fund as its Public Interest Pioneer for the year 2000.

Ami Dar, president of the U.S. subsidiary of Aladdin Knowledge Systems, was awarded $100,000 to help expand the nonprofit resource center he maintains at www.idealist.org.

The site was launched by Action without Borders, a nonprofit founded by Dar in 1995 whose mission is to help facilitate citizen action around the world. The site is a clearinghouse for nonprofit, advocacy and volunteering resources on the web, connecting to information provided by 20,000 organizations in 150 countries.

The site has also become the leading nonprofit career center on the Internet, with an average of 100 organizations listing jobs every week.
