United Way online – Other local affiliates eyes

 |

Shop2Give is working with the United Way of Greater Rochester to pilot a community Web site that the Los Angeles-based e-charity firm hopes to market to other local United Way affiliates.

The site, recently launched at www.thecommunitysite.com, features local news and editorials, surveys and polls, community bulletin board and information, an online shopping mall that generates contributions to the United Way and an option that lets readers click on the site once a day to trigger contributions to the United Way by site sponsors.

Ami Kassar, founder and chief executive officer of Shop2Give, says he hopes to team up with 15 local United Way affiliates this year, and another 100 in 2001.
