Two Pennsylvania nonprofits have merged into the largest provider of free legal representation to low-income people in civil matters in Central Pennsylvania.
Central Pennsylvania Legal Services and Keystone Legal Services, Inc. have combined to form MidPenn Legal Services, which will serve 12 counties.
“The merger strengthens agencies with already high reputations for providing valuable service to its clients and communities,” said Kate Morrow, President of the Board of Directors of Central Pennsylvania. “It will allow the newly structured organization to operate more cost effectively and be an even more important player in the region.”
Executive Director Michelle DeBord said the merger would also allow the programs to fundraise in new ways, to make better use of technology and to provide greater access to clients in rural areas and those with transportation problems.
