Grants for homeless – Support for groups in 55 counties

North Carolina has announced more than $2 million in grants for homeless shelters.

The grants will be used to provide social services to the homeless, to improve the quality of existing shelters, for operating costs for emergency shelters and transitional housing programs, and for programs and activities that prevent homelessness.

The money will come from the state’s Emergency Shelter Grant program. The grants will go to 107 nonprofit organizations and three local governments operating 134 homeless shelters in 55 counties.
