Nonprofits that advocate for women, children and the environment are joining together to educate Americans about the importance of international family planning.
The campaign, called “PLANet,” will spend $13 million in the first year of its five-year effort. The effort will use paid and public service media, national and local events, direct mail and grassroots efforts to get its message out. The David and Lucile Packard Foundation will fund the project.
PLANet will launch Monday, July 10, on the eve of World Population Day. The nonprofits involved include Save the Children, Planned Parenthood, the National Audobon Society, CARE, and Population Action International.
