$1.2M for Floyd relief – Donors set aside money to help

 |

Triangle United Way recently awarded nearly $1.2 million in grants to support relief efforts in eastern North Carolina.

More than 5,500 contributors to the 1999 United Way campaign assigned part of their gift to Hurricane Floyd relief, making the grants possible.

The funds will be distributed to 49 projects in 15 different counties. The money will pay for building materials to repair or construct homes and agency facilities, for food and basic supplies, and for staff that will continue to coordinate disaster relief efforts.
