Hewlett-Packard will provide the computer equipment for both the Democratic and Republican national conventions and donate it to local schools afterwards.
The donations will consist of $250,000 worth of HP printers and workstations for each convention. The equipment used at the Republican convention will go to two schools in Philadelphia and one in Boston. The equipment used at the Democratic convention will go to high schools and middle schools affiliated with the University of California Los Angeles’ MESA, or Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement program.
The gifts are part of HP’s Diversity in Education Initiative, which aims to develop long-term partnerships with schools and universities in urban communities.
