$4M for Greensboro College – Money for improvements, operations, endowment

 |

Greensboro College set a new fundraising record in 2000 of over $4 million, improving on last year’s record $3.9 million, the Greensboro Business Journal reported July 31.

“Every year, we keep adding people to our volunteer army,” college President Craven Williams told the Business Journal. “They help tell our story and get more people engaged in the life of the college; that raises our visibility.”

About half of the money will go to capital improvements. The rest will be divided between the college’s operating funds and its endowment fund. The endowment has grown from $8 million to $34 million in the last seven years.

About $1.6 million of this year’s drives came from planned gifts.

No specific goals have been set for next year’s fund drive.
