The Mrs. Zollie S. Frank Continuity Fund at the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago has pledged $10 million to provide financial aid to outstanding advanced students in biological sciences at the University of Chicago.
The scholarships will support students in the university’s M.D./Ph.D. joint-degree program, which enables exceptional students to acquire doctoral training in the sciences while studying to become physicians. The program aims to prepare new doctors to provide outstanding patient care.
The Frank family has made several previous gifts to the university totaling more than $2 million, recently helping to establish a new department of human genetics.
