Russia online – Monitored by scholars

The Russian Open Society Institute, an initiative of the Soros Foundation, has established an information and education site on the Internet, the Associated Press reported Aug. 31.

Students and professors in Russia now will have access to electronic versions of manuals, translations, scientific articles and news via the newly created Educators and scientists from Russia’s leading institutions of higher learning will monitor the site’s content.

“Having created the gateway, we have opened a window in Russia to the outside world,” said Yekaterina Geniyeva, president of the Soros Foundation in Russia.
