The China Charity Federation is considering the creation of a national charity fund, the Xinhua News Agency reported Sept. 1.
The federation cites the success of Shanghai’s recently established social aid fund, which provides financial assistance to the poor. Families whose members have fallen victim to serious illness now have access to treatment thanks to fund support.
“The CCF could learn from Shanghai’s experience and set up a national fund of the kind to help more people in need of social aid,” Yan Mingfu, the federation’s president, told Xinhua.
