Jeeves delivers $3M – $16M for drive

 |

The Berkeley Repertory Theatre has received $3 million – its second-largest gift ever — from the newly established Ask Jeeves Foundation.

The foundation, created by the founders and early investors of AskJeeves.com – an Internet search engine — pledged $2 million to the troupe’s capital campaign to expand its existing facility into a two-theater complex.  An additional $1 million will create an artistic endowment for the company.

Berkeley Repertory’s capital campaign now has raised more than $16 million. The new theatre is scheduled to open in spring 2001.
