Lieberman’s charity – Senator gave $13,804

 |

Sen. Joseph Lieberman and his wife, Hadassah, donated $13,804, or 4 percent of their income, to charity last year, the Associated Press reported Sept. 22.

Tax returns released by the Democratic vice presidential candidate and his wife showed they earned $336,201, the most they’ve made in 10 years, and paid $798,014 in federal taxes.

Dick Cheney, the GOP candidate for vice president, gave less than 1 percent of the $4 million he earned last year to charity, The New York Times reported Sept. 6, but Cheney said he also should be credited for speaking fees he directed to charity and for corporate gifts that matched his own donations. By Cheney’s standard, his giving equals 2.14 percent of his income.
