Focus on fundraising – Monthly luncheons on tap

Board development, public funding and planned giving will the focus of this month’s luncheons at the Charlotte, Triad and Triangle chapters of the National Society of Fund Raising Executives.

Del Martin, senior vice president of the Atlanta-based fundraising firm Alexander Haas Martin & Partners, will speak Oct. 18 at the Charlotte chapter luncheon.

Her topic will be board development.

Networking for the luncheon, which will be held at Bryon Hall at 440 S. Independence Blvd., begins at 11:30 a.m., with lunch at 11:45.

How to find public funds for capital campaigns will be the topic of the Triangle chapter luncheon Oct. 26.

Speakers at the luncheon, to begin at noon at the Holiday Inn, RTP, will be Shirley Robinson, director of external affairs at the N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences; Eleanor Jordan, managing director of the Raleigh Little Theater; and David Winslow, principal of Winston-Salem fundraising consultant The Winslow Group.

 “Planned giving for a small shop” will be the featured topic at the Triad monthly meeting Oct. 31.

Speakers at the luncheon, which will begin at 11:45 a.m. at the Magnolia Manor in Colfax, will be Ray Covington, assistant director of development at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and Michael H. Godwin, a partner in the law firm of Adams Kleemeier Hagan Hannah & Fouts.
