Founder steps down – Shift in focus

 |

The Lucy Daniels Foundation in Cary has made some executive changes.

Founder Lucy Daniels, a clinical psychologist, has stepped down as executive director and been succeeded by Mark Bensen, former associate director at the Kenan Institute for Engineering, Technology and Science at N.C. State University.

Don Baucom, a professor of psychology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill who had been a consultant to the foundation, has been named its research director. Alan Stern, who was the foundation’s research director, will continue to work for the foundation as a consultant.

Bensen said the changes signal Daniels’ desire to focus her attention to writing and to her work as board chair. He said he would focus on building partnership with other organizations.

The foundation works with artists to help them overcome psychological blocks to pursuing creative work.
