$31.8M for Stanford – Focus on treatment, research

 |

The Medical Center at Stanford University has received $31.8 million from an anonymous donor to establish a center to treat pulmonary disease, the San Francisco Chronicle reported Nov. 2.

The donation, given through the Lucile Packard Foundation for Children’s Health, will fund diagnostic and therapeutic services for adults and children with all forms of the pulmonary vascular disease at the Vera Moulton Wall Center for Pulmonary Vascular Disease.

The center plans to expand its current clinical and laboratory services, recruit additional research staff and train primary care physicians in the early diagnosis of the disease.

Additionally, the center aims to support research and collaboration between the School of Medicine and the School of Engineering at Stanford.
