Jesuits give $12M – Focus on outreach

 |

Santa Clara University has received $12 million from the Jesuit Community of Santa Clara.

The largest portion of the gift, $10 million, will support the expansion of the university’s Jesuit scholarship program, creating more than 30 full scholarships in the first year.

The Jesuits allocated an additional $1 million to create an endowment for the university’s Eastside Project, a program in which students work with underprivileged communities in Silicon Valley.

The final $1 million will fund a graduate program in pastoral ministry, which will be run by the religious studies department at the university.

Most of the 32 priests who live in Santa Clara live in at the university, which the Jesuits founded 150 years ago.
