Studying e-commerce – Funding for diversity

 |

General Electric and the GE Fund have given the University of Connecticut  its largest corporate donation ever.

GE has pledged $11 million in funds and resources to be invested over the next five years to support the school’s e-Business and e-Engineering initiatives and to bolster the school’s diversity programs.

The gift will fund the construction and equipping of an e-Lab, where students will use technology and work with GE Capital executives to explore new e-commerce models.

Additionally, the gift will support the development of an e-Engineering center, which will support joint research projects between students and GE Industrial Systems engineers.

GE funds will also be used to create programs designed to increase the enrollment and success of minorities enrolled in the engineering and business schools.
