Tracking the uninsured – Focus on health impact


The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation has awarded $3.7 million to the Institute of Medicine to fund a study on health care, the Associated Press reported Dec. 18.

The three-year research project will examine the health and economic consequences facing and created by the roughly 43 million Americans who lack health insurance.

Questions to be examined include the quality of care the uninsured receive, who pays the bill for those services and how public health and productivity are affected by the uninsured.
