$10M baton – Chair endowed

A $10 million gift from publishing tycoon Walter H. Annenberg and his wife, Lenore, will fund the creation a permanently endowed chair at the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Associated Press reported Dec.  22.

The gift is the largest donation ever to the orchestra’s endowment, which totals $80 million.

Wolfgang Sawallisch, the orchestra’s music director, will be the first to occupy the new Walter and Lenore Annenberg Music Director Chair.
