Disaster relief – Three-year gift

The Cisco Foundation has pledged to support the disaster-relief efforts of the American Red Cross over the next three years with a $1 million gift.

The gift will help support the recovery efforts of victims of major disasters throughout the U.S.

The foundation has designated a portion of its gift to chapters in two of its local communities: San Jose, Calif., home to Cisco’s world headquarters, and Raleigh, N.C., home to its research, development and marketing operation.

The Santa Clara Valley Red Cross will use the gift to support its fire recovery program and Kid’s Safety House, a program that teaches children about safety precautions.

The gift to the Triangle Area Red Cross will fund the expansion of health and safety training in the Raleigh area and the purchase of a new disaster services response vehicle.
