- NC BAR FOUNDATION CAMPAIGN TOPS $1M CARY-The North Carolina Bar Foundation’s Centennial Endowment Campaign has come to a close, with a total of $1,025,309 raised to support charitable projects. This number exceeds the projected campaign goal of $1 million. The funds, raised primarily through individual lawyers in North Carolina, will be used to finance grants for projects that enhance the professional competence of lawyers, build respect for and understanding of the law, and/or protect and promote the legal rights of citizens. More than 200 grants have been awarded since the Endowment’s establishment in 1987, to fund legally-related service projects such as scholarships for children of slain police officers, publications for senior citizens and victims of domestic violence, a statewide lawyer referral service, and a mental health counseling service for lawyers and their families. The North Carolina Bar Association, the state’s largest voluntary professional organization, is dedicated to serving the public and the legal profession.
