Law school record – $50M goal quadrupled

 |

The School of Law at the University of Virginia has completed its seven-year capital campaign, raising $202 million.

The total, four times the initial goal of $50 million, is believed to be a national record among law schools in the U.S.

Seventy percent of the university’s nearly 13,000 law alumni contributed to the campaign, which raised money to expand the school’s buildings and grounds and create 18 faculty professorships and 34 student scholarships, as well as public-service fellowships and loan assistance for grads seeking public-service careers.

In December, the university completed its own capital campaign, raising more than $1.3 billion.  The initial goal was $750 million.
