Discrimination targeted – Focus on Carolinas, Alabama

 |

A project to help people in poor communities in the Carolinas and Alabama identify and challenge discriminatory lending practices has received $300,000 from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

The project, one of 10 in the United States funded by HUD, is coordinated by the Raleigh-based Southern Rural Development Initiative, a collaborative of 33 member agencies that work to help community-based groups in the South’s poorest regions.
