$2.5M online – Installment plan

 |

A Baltimore lawyer donated $100,000 online to United Cerebral Palsy, the first installment in a $2.4 million gift that the charity believes will be the largest ever made using the Web.

Stephen L. Synder, whose donation will help finance construction of a new UCP facility in his hometown, made the gift using an American Express credit card.

Because of the size of the donation, Snyder and UCP agreed he would make the gift over the Internet in installments.

The charity says the gift challenges other donors to use the Web to make contributions to charities.
