Cleaning up – Survivor focus

 |

Former Beatle Paul McCartney and his girlfriend, Heather Mills, have formed a charity to raise funds to eliminate land mines and support land-mine survivors, Reuters reported June 4.

“Land mines take or wreck three lives an hour, ever hour, every day of the year,” McCartney said at the launch of Adopt-A-Minefield UK.

He and Mills took their campaign to Washington, D.C., in April, and said they found Secretary of State Colin Powell supportive despite U.S. reservations about a global land-mine ban.
