Fundraiser honored – Gifts for Guilford

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Charles W. Patterson III, vice president for institutional advancement at Guilford College in Greensboro, has been named College Division Fund Raiser of the Year for 2000-01 by the National Association of Athletic Development Directors.

The award honors Patterson for 33 years of fundraising work at Guilford, University of North Carolina at Greensboro and the athletic program at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem.

In the 2000-01 fiscal year, donors to Guilford contributed $7 million, a record for the school, which has raised $38.9 million in gifts and pledges to its $50 million capital campaign.

Guilford also has received $20,000 in gifts from The Coca-Cola Foundation to establish a new scholarship for an entering freshman who will be the first in his or her family to go to college.
