  • The World Run Day is sponsoring its international run-charity event for November 11, 2001, in New York City, New York. 40 cities within 20 foreign countries are lending support to the event, and asking runners to both run and donate any amount to their favortie charity on one special day.   • The Ford Foundation announced its first winners of the Leadership for a Changing World (L.C.W.) awards program. The 20 awardees, selected from 36 finalists in a pool of more than 3,000 nominations, represent individuals and leadership teams that are getting results tackling tough social problems in communities across the United States. L.C.W., started in September 2000, is a program of the Ford Foundation in partnership with the Washington-based Advocacy Institute and the Robert F.   • Hope Haven, Inc., an agency of The United Way of Central Carolinas, is sponsoring a unique training program for emerging community leaders, on Wednesday, October 17, 2001, in Charlotte, North Carolina at 11:30 am. This is the first event in a newly-established alumni program. The keynote speaker will be Jerry Fox, retired Mecklenburg County Manager, and Chair of the Homeless Task Force.
