The Piedmont Land Conservancy (PLC) has been selected by the NC Chapter of the Nature Conservancy to receive a 900-acre parcel of heavily wooded mountains in western Surry County. The parcel of land, known as the “Hanes Tract”, was donated to the Nature Conservancy in 1978. It is now the largest tract of protected land managed by the Piedmont Land Conservancy.
