Foundation trustee – Lifetime appointment

 |

The Duke Endowment in Charlotte has named Durham psychiatrist Jean G. Spaulding to its board of trustees.

Spaulding, who has run a private psychiatric practice since 1977, has resigned from her job as vice chancellor for health affairs at Duke University Medical Center.

A former trustee at Duke University, she also has been a clinical consultant, adjunct faculty member and associate clinical professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the medical center.

The Duke Endowment, with $2.8 billion in assets at the end of 2000 – the most recent data available — approved grants totaling nearly $100 million in 2000.

The endowment’s 15 trustees are appointed for life and receive annual compensation equal to one-fifteenth of 3 percent of income on the endowment’s assets, or about $150,189 per trustee in 2000.
