Gates gives Duke $35M

 |

DURHAM, N.C. – Duke University is getting $35 million from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation — $30 million for a new multidisciplinary science building, and $5 million to boost student life outside the classroom.

The new building, to combine teaching and research in addressing big scientific challenges, will be named the French Sciences Center to honor the family of Melinda French Gates, who has an undergraduate computer science degree from Duke and an MBA from Duke’s Fuqua School of Business.
