Foundation leaders in court

 |

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Citing mismanagement and personal use of foundation funds, the family of the late Edwin A. Morris, former chairman of Blue Bell Inc. and founder of the E.A. Morris Charitable Foundation, has filed a lawsuit against four foundation staff members, The News & Record reported May 16.

In the lawsuit, Morris’ widow, Mary Cannon Morris, and son, Joseph Cannon, claim that John Thomas, the foundation’s president, instigated their removal from the board and gave himself a salary from foundation funds.

They are asking that they be reinstated as board members and that Thomas and the other board members, including his wife, be removed.
