  • The Cleveland Foundation recently awarded $268,000 grants to 18 Cleveland-area organizations from its Youth Preparation Project.

  • The Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation of Winston-Salem awarded $200,000 to the N. C. Community Colleges Foundation, Inc. for a major project to increase the participation of Hispanics in community college training and education. The grant, payable over two years, will cover the cost of personnel and support costs for the Hispanic/Latino Initiative and support the establishment of a Hispanic/Latino Advisory Board for the N. C. Community College System.
  • The American Heart Association’s Ohio Valley Affiliate recently named Mary Welter as its new Vice President of Development and Field Support.
  • The Greater Cincinnati Foundation recently received a $2 million bequest from Mrs. Edna Flower that will be used to create an unrestricted fund.
  • The Independent Sector recently hired Gordon Green as its new head of Independent Sector Research.

  • The National Council of Nonprofit Associations recently appointed Ilene Mack, senior program officer at the Hearst Foundation; John Pratt, executive director of the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits; Ben Shute, Jr., secretary of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund; Sam Singh, president and chief executive officer of the Michigan Association of Nonprofits; and Lynn Helbling Sirinek, president of the Ohio Grantmakers Forum to the Board of Directors of the National Council of Nonprofit Associations at recent annual conference.
