IS taps interim chief

 |

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Peter Shiras, senior vice president for programs at Independent Sector, a Washington-based coalition of nonprofits, has been named interim president and CEO.

He will head the organization starting Jan. 1, 2003, following the departure of Sara E. Melendez for a new job at George Washington University.

Working closely with Melendez for the past four years, Shiras has overseen Independent Sector’s work in research, public affairs, planning and new issues.

A search committee headed by Raul Yzaguirre hopes to name a new president by early next year.
