Grants target inequality

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Raising awareness of economic and social injustices in local communities is the focus of grants being offered by the Grassroots Fund, an affiliate of the Fund for Southern Communities in Decatur, Ga.

The Grassroots Fund, which backs community-based groups that address discrimination and lack of opportunities for residents in Wake, Durham and Orange counties, aims to expand its giving to Alamance, Caswell, Chatham, Franklin, Granville, Harnett, Johnston and Person counties.

Applicants can apply for a total of $5,000.
