Drive seeks charities

The Research Triangle Area Combined Federal Campaign is looking for charities that want to be part of its annual drive this fall.

April 10 is the deadline for charities to submit applications to be included in the workplace campaign, which is run in 150 federal agencies with 14,000 employees in 17 counties, including the Triangle, and running east to Pitt County and north to the Virginia border.

To qualify for the campaign, which last year raised $555,000, down $20,000 from 2001, charities must spend no more than 25 percent of their budgets on administrative expenses and must receive no more than 80 percent of their support from government sources.
