Meredith gets boost

RALEIGH, N.C. — Meredith College in Raleigh has received a $300,000 challenge grant from The Kresge Foundation in Troy, Mich.

Meredith can use half the grant to buy scientific research equipment because it already has raised $300,000 in matching funds. To receive the other half, the school must raise an additional $600,000 by April 1, 2004, in new gifts and grants to create an endowment to maintain and replace the equipment.

The equipment will be used in the school’s new $20 million, 80,000-square-foot science and math building that opened in January.
