Smart Start taps chief

Marsha Basloe, former senior vice president of resource development at United Way of Central Carolinas in Charlotte, has been named executive director of the Durham Partnership for Children, which runs the county’s early-childhood Smart Start and More at Four programs.

Basloe also was executive director of Beth David Congregation and the Gordon Schools in Miami, and headed a collaborative program in New York State to help at-risk youngsters succeed in school.
