Children’s group ups goal

 |

By Todd Cohen

GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Greensboro-based Children’s Home Society of North Carolina has received $1 million from an anonymous donor and raised the goal for its capital campaign, launched with a “quiet” phase in January 2002, to $10 million from $7.5 million.

The campaign now has raised $6.2 million.

The 100-year-old nonprofit also is getting $10,000 from the Northwestern Mutual Foundation to honor “outstanding volunteer” Bob Borden, who chairs the campaign and the society’s board, and is a Greensboro financial representative for Northwestern Mutual Financial Network and vice president at The Benefits Group.
