Anti-spam day set

 |

The first-ever “spam-prevention day” will offer free software and a workshop Dec. 12 to help nonprofits combat unwanted email.

Nonprofits can receive a free, full-year donation of anti-span software for each employee by visiting a web site on that date.

TechSoup, a technology website for nonprofits run by San Francisco-based CompuMentor, and Mailshell, an anti-spam software developer, are organizing the event.

Mailshell already has donated over $1 million worth of anti-spam software this year.

A free educational workshop and training session in San Francisco on Dec. 12 aims to help nonprofits understand the causes of spam and how to fight it.

CompuMentor’s mentor-matching program, which connects nonprofits with knowledgeable tech volunteers, is developing the workshop.
