CharityChannel charging

 |

By Todd Cohen

After offering free online content for 11 years, CharityChannel has begun charging its more than 100,000 readers, roughly half of whom subscribe, for its more than 200 public and private email discussion groups and 16 e-newsletters.

“If you belong to the CharityChannel online community, we’re asking you to help support the community because it’s grown so much it takes more resources to support it than ever before,” said CEO Steven C. Nill.

CharityChannel, in Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., is asking individual subscribers to pay $3 a month for six months or $2 a month for a year, and is proposing a graduate fee schedule for organizations, with higher rates for groups with more users.
